Major Emergencies

Peace begins with a smile.

 True orthodontic emergencies are not a common occurrence. A major emergency that would necessitate being seen by a dental professional as soon as possible would include:

• Trauma or injury to the teeth, face, or mouth
• Infection or swelling of the gums, mouth, or face
• Severe, unmanageable discomfort or pain in these areas

If you are experiencing any of these problems, please be sure to call our office or your dentist as soon as possible. If necessary, you may choose to go to an emergency room. To prevent a major emergency, it is highly recommended that you wear a mouthguard while participating in contact sports, to protect your teeth and your orthodontic appliances.
