Meet Dr. Jay Decoteau

“A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.”

Dear current and future patients,

I feel truly blessed to be a member of this incredibly fulfilling profession, caring for my patients along with my talented team for many years. I have thrived on the meaningful and memorable relationships I’ve developed with my patients and their families, and I thank you for allowing me the privilege of sharing in your lives. As your orthodontist, I feel great satisfaction by creating beautiful smiles and seeing the increase in self-confidence that this inspires. It’s so rewarding to have this impact, changing my patients’ lives in such a positive way, one smile at a time.

Education and Experience

I graduated in 1982 from the University of Maine with high distinction, and was elected to the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. I am proud to have received my dental education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. I graduated cum laude from Tufts in 1986, and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society (inducts only the top 10% of graduating dentists). I was fortunate to then pursue my specialty training in orthodontics at Tufts, where I completed my orthodontic residency in 1988.

Like all health care professions, orthodontics is continually innovating and evolving. I firmly believe in the importance of staying current with cutting-edge techniques and technology through continual professional development. By attending many regional and national orthodontic and dental courses every year, I continue to learn about changes in orthodontic care. This enables me to offer my patients the latest orthodontic approaches, maximizing their comfort while most efficiently creating ideal smiles, with excellent function and beautiful esthetics. I am proud to be a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. I am currently a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Massachusetts Dental Society, New Hampshire Dental Society, and Northeast Society of Orthodontists, and the Greater Nashua Dental Society.

Valuing Family and Community

Originally from Dunstable, MA, I attended Groton-Dunstable High School, and it has been a privilege to serve the community in which I grew up. Having lived in Nashua before moving back to Groton, I have loved this region, appreciating both the natural beauty of the area as well as the local spirit of community. I am grateful to have established my orthodontic practices and raised my family in this special place. I enjoy being engaged in my local community, and am proud to have developed state-of-the-art orthodontic practices based on family values in these New England communities. I am so pleased to have the privilege to work with my daughter in law, Dr. Carolyn Decoteau

When I am not caring for you, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Lea, and our yellow lab Sunny. We love spending time with our four children and our expanding family as often as we can. A few of my passions include playing golf, basketball, boating, fishing, and skiing. If you’re a former or current patient at Decoteau Orthodontics, thank you for trusting us with your care. And to our future patients, I look forward to having you join our orthodontic family.
